The city is looking to sell a one-acre property in Towson that used to be home to a city contractor.

Located at 219 Burke Ave., the 35,000-square-foot site used to be home to Wachs Water Services, a contractor that does business with the city, but Wachs moved out in 2012. The land was recently declared to be surplus by the city’s Department of Public Works, and is being put up for sale by the City Council and the Mayor’s Office.

Kurt Kocher, a spokesman for the city’s Department of Public Works, said the site no longer served a purpose once Wachs moved out.

The property will be put on the market once it is approved by the city’s Board of Estimates. A bill in the City Council sent it to the five-member spending board earlier this month. Once approved, the site will be put on the market.
