A letter from BGE received by a Cedar Avenue resident on 9/11/12;
BGE would like to thank you for your continuing patience and cooperation as we work to complete our efforts to address electric service reliability in your community. Since our last communication in May, BGE’s infrastructure enhancement plans have been moving forward. We believe that, when complete, these efforts will improve the electric reliability in your area, both in times of calm and during adverse weather, such as the Derecho storm system that affected our service territory on June 29.
BGE has begun installing new underground lines along portions of Stevenson Lane, Cedar Avenue, Newberry Lane, Knollwood Road and Fairway Drive to reduce the community’s dependence on the existing overhead lines. Due to the recent volatile weather, work may continue into early 2013.
The company is also in the process of completing tree and vegetation management in your area. In order for this effort to be successful, BGE will need the cooperation of all community residents to allow BGE to prune for proper tree clearance and to remove structurally unsound trees that could fall onto and damage our distribution facilities, when appropriate. In addition to this effort, BGE is also upgrading portions of the overhead equipment in your community and has conducted inspections to ensure that any equipment issues that may have resulted from the June 29 Derecho event of subsequent storms are addressed.
BGE looks forward to keeping you informed about this project. Further information regarding these planned infrastructure enhancements will be outlined in future communications. In the meantime, please contact us at 1.800.685.0123 and reference the Baltimore County 7119-1 Project with any questions.
Thank you for your patience and we appreciate your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Thomas Bopp, BGE Sr. Project Manager
